The Difference

From Division I athlete to orthopedic surgeon

Dr. Day didn’t learn about sports injuries from a textbook alone — he lived them. As a Division I athlete, he understands the drive to compete, the frustration of being sidelined, and the urgency to get back in the game safely.

That perspective shapes everything: precise diagnoses, conservative-first treatment plans, and surgical expertise when it’s truly needed. You’re treated like a teammate, not a chart number.

Read what happened

Every orthopedic patient is quietly asking the same question: is this surgeon recommending an operation because I need one, or because operating is what he does?

No website can answer that by insisting it’s honest. What answers it is a documented moment where telling the truth cost something — in public, with the scoreboard already in his favor.

The standard doesn’t change

Most of Dr. Day’s patients have never competed at any level. They’re parents, teachers, nurses, retirees and people whose knee simply started hurting one day and never stopped.

The reason a team physician is careful is that a wrong call costs someone their season. That same caution is why he will tell you plainly when an operation isn’t the answer — whether you’re 17 and hoping to play again, or 67 and hoping to walk the golf course.

Everyday injuries

A knee that gave out on the stairs. A shoulder that hasn't been right since you slept on it wrong. You don't need a sport to deserve a real diagnosis.

Arthritis & joint pain

Wear-and-tear pain that's been building for years, and honest guidance on how long you can manage it before a replacement is the right call.

Joint pain & arthritis

Fractures & trauma

Broken bones, acute injuries and the complex reconstructions that sometimes follow them — treated with the same urgency either way.

Why him

Fellowship training is the floor, not the ceiling

Plenty of surgeons are fellowship trained. Fewer teach the courses, publish the research, and have competed at the level they’re treating.
