From the track to the operating room
Before he was a surgeon, Dr. Day was a Division I track and field athlete at the University of South Carolina, competing in the shot put, discus, and weight throw in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). As team captain, he was recognized nationally for sportsmanship and featured in Sports Illustrated.
That athletic background shaped his path into orthopedics. He earned his medical degree at SUNY Downstate, where he went on to serve as Chief Resident, then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Andrews Institute under Dr. James Andrews — one of the most respected names in the field.
Today, Dr. Day cares for patients of every level in Montclair, NJ — from weekend warriors to professional athletes. Having been sidelined himself, he treats every patient like a teammate: with honest guidance, conservative-first plans, and surgical expertise when it's truly needed.
